Another Redesign

I will probably do this a few times each year. Why do I redesign so often? Well, I like to write code. Each redesign gives me a chance to work on new layout and design ideas, I find that this is easier to start and finish when I actually plan to publish it. I am also beginning to toy with JavaScript and AJAX- you will see some of this being implemented very soon. So I am not totally crazy, its totally constructive.

Or at least that is what I tell myself.

So hard to say goodbye

I wish that I could say that I am sorry to see him go…. Based on some his recent comments to the press, the guy had it coming. You dont tell your co-workers that you are going to “fuck” them and expect your situation at work to get better. The sad thing about all of this is that despite the departure of Wolfowitz, the World Bank will not be reformed. People focus on the guy at the top, and yes, he should be held accountable for his ethical issues. There are much larger issues at play here.

Open Source Apps

I am a fairly new Mac user and over the past few months I have tried out many apps, many were awful but a few work great. Now I have a chance to share my experience and make a few recommendations. The qualities I look for are usability (UI + overall design) and performance (no memory hogs please), Here goes..

Access to water and the World Bank

I started a research paper last Friday over access to water in developing socities. Needless to say, I was not ready for what I had gotten myself into. I read journal articles and researched for 3 days, although I could have gone on for several weeks, I had to stop at some point because the paper was due this week. A research paper over water access quickly turned into a critique of the World Bank, its Neoliberal policies and its role in globalization. It makes perfect sense that Wolfowitz would be the president of the world bank. I actually ran out of material before I was ready to stop writing. eek!
