So hard to say goodbye

I wish that I could say that I am sorry to see him go…. Based on some his recent comments to the press, the guy had it coming. You dont tell your co-workers that you are going to “fuck” them and expect your situation at work to get better. The sad thing about all of this is that despite the departure of Wolfowitz, the World Bank will not be reformed. People focus on the guy at the top, and yes, he should be held accountable for his ethical issues. There are much larger issues at play here.

The problems with the World Bank go much deeper than Paul Wolfowitz and there is no discussion in the press about the failure of the World Bank to meet its charter, and no focus on all of the bad that has come because of the banks existence. All of the news reports describe the bank as an institution that “fights” poverty when in fact the bank perpetuates inequality by destroying any existing sustainable development and creating dependent relationships with western nations.
