Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzalez

Ralph Nader

Matt Gonzalez

Last week, I saw Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzalez at a smallish church in North Central Austin and I must say, the event was pretty exciting. I saw Nader a few years ago in Houston at U of H, but this was a great event. The medium sized church was packed, many were standing behind the pews. There was a lot of energy in the room.

I love to hear Nader speak; even in his 70’s he has not lost his passion and energy for the causes he believes in. A few pics of the event follow, check out my Flickr set to see more of the event.

Photo a day: Jamie Livingston

Via Mental Floss

Yesterday I came across a slightly mysterious website — a collection of Polaroids, one per day, from March 31, 1979 through October 25, 1997. There’s no author listed, no contact info, and no other indication as to where these came from. So, naturally, I started looking through the photos. I was stunned by what I found.

This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Wonderful photos, and you will experience every imaginable emotion while viewing the collection. The website is located here. More info about the collection here and there is a great radio interview with Chris Higgins at the Spark

iPhone 3G launch

iPhone 3G Madness

Today marked the launch of the iPhone 3G. I was curious about the new device and curious about the scene at the Apple store so I headed over to the Domain in Austin. I arrived to find several hundred people waiting outside and several hundred more waiting inside!

The concierge notified me that they were no longer allowing people to enter the line for the iPhone 3G. Because so many people already waiting, they probably would not have time to activate all of the phone before closing time (9pm)!

I snapped a few pics of the scene inside the store… wow. I am saddened by impressed with anyone who has the stamina to wait 3-6 hours for any device. Above is a pic I took with an iPhone 3g in store. More pics on Flickr.
