iPhone 3G launch
Today marked the launch of the iPhone 3G. I was curious about the new device and curious about the scene at the Apple store so I headed over to the Domain in Austin. I arrived to find several hundred people waiting outside and several hundred more waiting inside!
The concierge notified me that they were no longer allowing people to enter the line for the iPhone 3G. Because so many people already waiting, they probably would not have time to activate all of the phone before closing time (9pm)!
I snapped a few pics of the scene inside the store… wow. I am saddened by impressed with anyone who has the stamina to wait 3-6 hours for any device. Above is a pic I took with an iPhone 3g in store. More pics on Flickr.

Steve Reich on Pitchfork
I missed Steve Reich in Ft. Worth earlier this year, but Pitchfork has a nice video which includes performance and interviews with Steve Reich and several other musicians. In 2 parts:
Part 1
Part 2

George Carlin - R.I.P. (NSFW)
George Carlin died yesterday. I was never a huge fan but one of his final HBO specials “Life is Worth Loosing” has a spectacular ending… it gets really good around the 102 min mark (the Uncle Dave part). It goes without saying- this is not a video you want to watch with grandmother.
